It’s hard to believe the party is over.

Josh Miller stood with his mom and his friend Jeanine Galitski as the final blasts of fireworks faded from the sky a little after 8:30 p.m. Season ticket holders since the Ducks came to town 14 years ago, the Millers were not yet ready to start walking back to their car, not yet ready to accept that this dream season was over.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” said Miller of the end of the season and the rally. “It was the perfect season and it ended perfectly.”

All three of the Huntington Beach residents said they’ll be a little lost without the games and the team they had followed.

“I don’t want the season to be over,” Galitski said. “We have to wait three whole months?”

Three whole months, though, in which the Ducks have something they’ve never had before, said mom Anne Miller.

“Now we have the respect.”
