The OC Walk to Remember is an event that takes place once a year in October, which is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The nonprofit agency raises money to help the parents who have lost their child to miscarriage, pregnancy loss, or infant loss of any kind. The money raised by this dedicated organization helps fund memory box programs at several hospitals so the parents may have footprints, blankets, photos, and other items to help them cope following their baby’s death.
To aide in this crusade of raising awareness, Mike Vavak founder of the nonprofit organization the Olam Project, has promised that 20 percent of the profits he raises from the sales of his Olam T-shirts will be given to OC Walk to Remember. Vavak has an emotional connection to this cause. Having his first child Milo Vavak born still, Mike and his wife Shimrit regained the ability to live again through the help and support of organizations like OC Walk to Remember.
They became parents again when they welcomed their son Shaiah on July 5. Along with the 20 percent Vavak has promised to Walk to Remember, the other 80 percent of the proceeds will be distributed to other organizations that help the parents of child loss so they to may have remembrance of their child.
Vavak’s stylish Olam T-shirts can be found at theolamproject.com, Katin Surf Shop in Huntington Beach, And Harbour Surfboards in Seal Beach. The shirts can be purchased for an affordable $20 in black or white.
The OC Walk to Remember is a nonprofit charitable event and tax deductible. Many parents’ lives can be helped by these caring donations and affected by the support that the Olam Project and OC Walk to Remember can bring them.
